• 3 years Journalism & Mass Communication honours & General course under university of Calcutta. 10+2 students are eligible for applying this course.
• 1 year PG Diploma course on Journalism and Mass Communication under IGNOU. 10+2+3 students are eligible for applying this course.
• The department also offers an UGC recognized new course
• 1 year certificate & 2 years diploma course on photo journalism and Videography. 10+2 students are eligible for applying this course.

Achievements and Activities

• The students of this department publish two lab journals “Sambad Pratidhwani’’ and an English lab journal “Reverb” regularly.

• Department produces various documentary film on multiple topics under its curriculum. They have produced film like ornamental Fish culture, Reverb, Water, Birth of Newspaper, sampadito etc.

• The film sampadito was shown in the 9th International Cinema on social communication an Nandan. It was also shown in the Chalachitra Satobarsho Bhavan by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, West Bengal. The film has also been stred in the archive of Chalachitra Satobarsho Bhavan, Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, West Bengal.

• Seminars, Workshop, Symposium are organized every year by the department. Two UGC sponsored seminar on Science Journalism and Media Communication (State level) and a seminar on Development Communication and role of media (National level) were organized recently.

• Three books on this seminar topic was also published by this department.

• Seminars on various topics were organized by this department on multiple venues like- Kolkata Book Fair,Abanindra Sabha Griha Information Center, Press Club, Journalist Club, The Students not only participated in this seminar. They had learning experience from them.

• The department organized special classes for students where working journalist and expert faculties from the field of Radio, Television, Print, PR take their Classes. The students interact and gain knowledge from their vast experiences.

• Filled visit programme(Print, Electronic Media), Study tour are organized by the department.
