Computer science Department started its journey in the year 2004 under guidance of Dr. Shrijankar Acharya, the then HOD, with enormous help from Dr. Bijan Mohanto, the then principal of this college. It started with 12 students who took the subject as General paper.
Full fledged 3 years Computer Science Honours course was in the year 2005 under Calcutta University. After Dr. Acharya, Prof. Ritwik Mukherjee became HOD of this department with whole hearted support from both teaching & non teaching staff, the department tries to provide a good carrer support to its students.
In 2008, first batch passed from this department with Dibyendu Bikash Seal as topper who got 1st class marks. Other 15 students also passed successfully. In the same year, 3 year computer science (general) course was introduced.
2nd batch comprising of 22 students passed in 2009 with Souvik Nandan as topper scoring 546 out of 800. 10 students got first class and other 12 students also passed successfully. In part-I (Honous), 2009 4 students got first class out of 14 students with Shishagnee Banerjee as topper having 67% In Part- II (Honours), 2009 6 students got first class out of 15 students. Wiith shreya Banerjee as topper.
If, as teachers of this department we can impart more improved knowledge tour pupil, they can earn more respect for this department as well as for this college. We are looking for the day when each cnrolled student of this department will stand brightly in future.
We, both teaching & non teaching staff of this department are very much thankful to our college authority as they are expanding their helpful hand in every sphere of work.
